Hi everyone!
how are you doing? Are you enjoying your weekend? I hope so. This is only to remind you that homework for the two groups is doing page 17 of your Student's book and the writing I already explained you in another entry of this blog. Besides, you should have a look at vocabulary related to "the elections" as we are going to make a discussion in class about it next week. As Chanelle is coming on Monday and Tuesday, the discussion is postponed to Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Here you are a couple of articles about it:
- Conservatives make some key wins in Spanish elections (including two very interesting videos)
- Spain calls snap elections (The New York Times article)
- Spain's socialists: worst election in three decades (Euronews)
- Spain: country profile (BBC documentary)
- Spain: socialists suffer heavy election losses (BBC)
- Zapatero calls early Spain election amid economic woes (BBC)
Hope you have fun!! See you next week!

I have just read all the articles and I need help. I don't know what does "bellwether" mean. I've tried finding out in several dictionaries, but I've failed. Could anyone help me?
ReplyDeleteA "bellwether" is a leader or indicator of a trend. It comes from the leading sheep of a flock which used to have a bell on its neck. When you don't find it in bilingual dictionaries, my advice is to try with a monolingual one, they are often quite more complete. Thanks for your dedication. See you later!
